As I was flipping through The Sunday Times, 30th April 2005, I saw this interesting article, read, stared into space and decided to share with fellow bloggers. I, or perhaps we must admit that the world have changed. With the income and standard of living gap widening between the rich and poor, the children are not only excessively spoilt, but to the rotten stage.
Below are my critics for the article and it will be followed in sequence as of the red highlighted boxes.

1) Miss Pang's is a business graduate, but with her poor results, she got a job that is lower than any of her peers. Dad decided to chip in additional $600, to make her daughter feels better and also her "self-esteem"
- It doesn't mean that with a degree, you are guranteed with high flying job. Look at her salary, with a mere $1600 a month, it doesn't make much of a difference with fellow diploma holders.
- Who can she blame but herself with the results, right?
- When the encouragement becomes a habit, the effect would eventually backfire, and giving her money will then be a necessary thing to do.

2) $340 Parking Lot, $3000 Chanel handbag and $600 Ferragamo shoes.

3) 3 Supplementary Credit Card, Visit Top Boutiques, handphone bills hit $600 with an earning of $3.3k per month.
-Seriously, don't even think about stepping into these shops if you can hardly earn enough to feed yourself.
- Don't you think its an ultimate shame. Fancy these people shopping with their parents money and credit card. Hello, that guy is earning $3.3k a month. The ultimate aim of shopping is to shop with your own money, that's when you find enjoyment and will treasure the products you bought even more.

4) "If i don't spend on her, who can I spend on? She will understand what a mother's love means when she become a mother herself"
- I can only say that in the long run, kids will love their parents because of their $MONEY$, and not what they give from their heart.
Its definitely despairing to see how grown ups are still dependent on their parents financially. Yes, once in a while, parents can have the freedom to give their kids a little cash, but not to the extend of frequent handouts. This would only cultivate a wrong mindset in them. If I was the one in such cases, I will always think that "I can spend as much as I desire. Afterall, when I'm utterly broke, I still have my parents to fall back on".
